I don’t have any New Year’s Resolutions, per se. No hard and fast rules for me to follow, no “new me” I want to become, no pressure to put upon myself. Instead, I want to embrace one word as the theme of my year:
Joy in my family, without counting down the hours until bedtime or worrying about what I need to get done.
Joy in writing, without stressing about publication.
Joy in relationships without distraction.
Joy in me, despite what I think people “expect” or what my body will become as I continue to let go.
Just JOY. It won’t always be possible, but I hope that by embracing this word, this concept, I’ll be able to enjoy things more, to be in the moment instead of thinking about goals and expectations.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
